I poached this from an email from Tracy Lehto of Generation GF. Generation GF is the kids arm of GIG, the national Gluten Intolerance Group (our local chapter is run by Dr. Lisa Shaver)—contact info below.
“We are lucky to live in a community with many gluten-free bakeries that help us enjoy the holidays in Portland with fabulous GF treats! I did a quick scan and here is what I found happening for Halloween.
Gluten-free GEM Bakery Pop-up Shop, Saturday, Oct 29th 10am-2pm at Anthropologie in the Pearl District – Halloween and other treats.
Liberated Baking Halloween Carnival, Saturday, Oct 29th, 5pm – For kids 2-12 with allergies or celiac disease! A safe Halloween activity. They have games, prizes, and treats! Wear your Halloween costume! $5 per child. We went last year and will be attending this year also because it was tons of fun!
Cute vegan Halloween goodies at Petunias’.
Pumpkin Soy Soft-serve at Back to Eden.
Of course, you are likely to find some Halloween themed treats at the other GF bakeries including Kyra’s, Tula, and New Cascadia.
It’s not too early to think about Thanksgiving and most of these PDX bakeries offer Thanksgiving items as well. New Cascadia does a tasting of their Thanksgiving goods on Wednesday Nov 9th and Nov 16th at 10am. Totally worth checking out, its like a mini Thanksgiving!
Have a safe and gluten-free Halloween!
